Council Considers Options for Renaming Cesar Chavez Blvd.

Chavez Boulevard to “Campesinos Boulevard,” which is a Spanish term for “farmworkers.” The proposal would bypass the usual process for renaming streets. But residents are still divided on the best street name, with other options such as reverting back to the original “39th Avenue” being suggested. [KGW]
- On Tuesday, the Public Works Committee voted to move forward with the change, recommending that City Council adopt the “Campesinos Boulevard” name for both the Northeast and Southeast stretches. City Council will have to vote on this next to make it official. [Portland.gov]
