What's CITY Talking About

Trump Won’t Get Sensitive Voter Data

Oregon won’t have to hand the Trump administration sensitive information on voters, under a federal judge’s preliminary decision from earlier this week. U.S. District Court Judge Mustafa Kasubhai said he’s planning to dismiss the U.S. Justice Department’s lawsuit over the accuracy of Oregon’s voter rolls. The judge cautioned that his final decision may be different, but Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read already celebrated the ruling. [Oregon Capital Chronicle]

New Enrollment Boost for Jefferson HS

Portland Public Schools’ board has approved a plan to redraw Jefferson High School’s enrollment boundary. Now students from Beach, Chief Joseph, Boise-Eliot/Humboldt, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Sabin, and Woodlawn schools will have no other choice for a high school. In years past, the students could pick Jefferson, or one of three other schools — Grant, Roosevelt, or McDaniel — depending on where they live. [Oregonian]

Identifying the people who are ready for housing and then providing them with those tools to get housing equaled success. Imagine that.

Cut Shelter Beds To Fund Housing?

A new report from Multnomah County finds homeless shelters with funding to support the transition to housing were more successful at finding people homes. It’s not the most surprising finding, but it may lead the county to consider cutting shelter beds to spend more money on rental assistance and similar housing supports. [City Cast Portland 🎧]

Where Is It?

“This stained glass portrait of David Lynch is located inside the Hollywood Theatre’s Bar Hollywood,” writes reader Heidi F.

Bar Hollywood is, of course, Portland’s newish Lynch-themed bar — complete with a blue velvet love seat.

And as reader Phil H. noted, the artist who created the image is Portland’s Valerie Fairlight.

A shoutout to those two readers as well as the others who identified the spot: Ben T., Annie M., Creepy Spice, and Max D.

This week’s scavenger hunt comes from reader Jade T.

Where is this tiny superhero?

Please click here to submit the location — and, for unofficial bonus points, anything you know about it.

If you’re new to the newsletter, there’s a scavenger hunt on Fridays. In next week’s newsletter, I’ll shout out the first 10 readers who respond correctly and reveal the answer.

📸 Want to submit a photo? Please email me a snapshot of somewhere in the Portland metro area, and we’ll consider it for an upcoming “Where Is It?” segment!
