High Number of Vacant Affordable Apartments
Almost 1,900 affordable apartments are currently vacant in the city of Portland. That’s 7.4% of the 25,409 public subsidized apartments. Among the reasons are bureaucratic delays in getting people into available apartments and a high number of evictions from affordable housing as renters have lost pandemic-era assistance. [Oregonian]
Legacy Health Care Workers Begin a Strike
More than 100 healthcare workers went on strike yesterday at Legacy Health after almost two years of failed contract negotiations. Legacy officials say they won’t meet with the union until the nurse practitioners, physician associates, and clinical nurse specialists are back on the job, but the union has left the strike open-ended.
