The Other Homelessness Crisis

In Portland, there are thousands of families experiencing homelessness. In a city focused on tents and encampments, children and their parents often get overlooked. Brandi Tuck, executive director of Path Home, explains what's being done and why this demographic is left out of the broader conversation in our region. [City Cast Portland 🎧]

Trump Proclaims Antifa a ‘Terrorist Threat’

President Trump signed an executive order declaring antifa a domestic terrorist organization, though no such designation exists in law. Instead, the legal system addresses the illegal activity of domestic groups through criminal charges like racketeering or corruption, according to legal experts. [Oregonian]

Jimmy Kimmel Not Back in Portland

After a massive outcry that First Amendment rights were being trounced, ABC put comedian Jimmy Kimmel back on the air last night. The show had been on pause for nearly a week after Kimmel’s comments about right-wing activist Charlie Kirk’s murder. But local ABC affiliate KATU, owned by Sinclair Media, is still keeping Kimmel off local broadcasts, showing news instead. [AP via OPB]

Why You Don’t See Portland’s Thousands of Homeless Families

We often talk about Portland’s homelessness crisis in terms of the tents and encampments we see on our streets. But there’s another side of this crisis that’s far less visible: families with children. Path Home is one of the only local nonprofits dedicated exclusively to serving families experiencing homelessness, and its executive director, Brandi Tuck, talks about what's being done and why families are often overlooked.

This little girl wasn't ashamed; she wasn't embarrassed or afraid to bring her friends here. This is just where she lives.
