✊ Oregon-led lawsuit against Trump wins again
September 3, 2025 · — Rachel Monahan
Good morning, Portland! The warm, sunny weather of early September is sticking around through the rest of the week ☀️

What's CITY Talking About?
Win for Oregon-Led Challenge on Tariffs
A court case challenging President Trump’s tariffs, which is being led by Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield, won a victory in the U.S. Court of Appeals. The judges upheld a lower court ruling finding the tariffs unconstitutional but nonetheless leaving them in place for now, setting up a Supreme Court appeal. [AP via Oregonian]
Will the Transportation Bill Pass?
After being called into a special session, the Oregon House passed a scaled-down bill to fund transportation on Labor Day, which the Senate won't vote on for a couple of weeks. Stay tuned. [Oregonian]
I do love that the guy who lost his election is like, what if we change the rules?
Ongoing Push To End Vote-By-Mail
On the midweek roundup, the chief petitioner for a ballot initiative to end vote-by-mail says there’s momentum behind his effort: 25,000 Oregonians have signed to get it on the ballot in 2026. The effort aligns with President Trump’s campaign to end voting by mail. [City Cast Portland 🎧]
