The Closing of Next Adventure
Reader responses about the closure of our beloved outdoor retailer Next Adventure continue to roll in. Here's what a few of you had to say:
- This is a great time to give a bump to The Mountain Shop which is also a Portland Icon, in business in the Pacific NW since 1937! It’s an amazing outdoor retail store with knowledgeable staff and a great range of rentals. They are getting ready to move to a new retail location on NE 30th and Sandy. As all of the other outdoor stores in Portland close, The Mountain Shop lives!!!” — Anonymous
- “This is a huge loss for working class families in Portland, Oregon. We've shopped at their Bargain Basement for rain pants and ski pants since my children were toddlers. The barrier for entry into outdoor gear is high for people with kids and this was a way to be able to find a wide selection of gear at affordable prices for all of us.” — Ana Helena
.. And What Else Has Felt Like the End of an Era
Next Adventure isn't the only local closure that's leaving an empty place in readers' hearts:
- “I miss the greatest restaurant to ever exist in Portland: Proper Eats 😭 (St. Johns)” — Jesse Yun
