Transportation Funding Plan Is Dead

The slimmed-down $11.6 billion transportation bill didn’t have the votes to pass — Democratic legislators acknowledged Friday. Changes to the bill had secured one Republican supporter in the Oregon House, but it wasn’t enough. It’s a notable defeat. [OPB]

Changes to Homeless Services Measure

The regional government Metro has ruled out asking voters to renew the region’s homeless service measure in November. But the council did vote to support a change that was planned to be part of the measure. Starting next year, the income floor for who pays the measure (currently set at $125,000 a year for individuals) will rise with inflation. [KGW]

Gov. Kotek Continues Pushing Preschool for All Change

The Legislature dropped a proposal to kill Multnomah County’s tax on high-income individuals to pay for its Preschool for All program. But the governor is still pushing local elected officials to lower the tax, arguing that it’s encouraged high-income individuals to leave the state. [Willamette Week]
