🍓 Where to pick strawberries
June 10, 2025 · — Rachel Monahan
Good morning, Portland! 🫠 After a record-setting heatwave that closed schools early yesterday, it won’t be nearly as hot today. Thank goodness!
And it’s going to keep getting cooler — tomorrow’s high won’t even hit 80 degrees 🧊

What's CITY Talking About?
Voter Registration in Trump Administration's Sights
The Trump administration is looking at whether Oregon followed federal law in purging ineligible voters from the registration rolls, last week filing a “statement of interest” in an ongoing federal lawsuit over the issue. The conservative group Judicial Watch, the Constitution Party of Oregon, and two individual Oregonians filed the lawsuit. [OPB]
Part-Time Work Is Up Faster Here Than Elsewhere
Nearly 23% of Oregonians had a part-time job last year — the highest percentage since 2018. It could be a sign of a tougher market for job seekers, though many opt for part-time work for its flexibility. [Oregonian]
Confusion Over Territory Voting Rights
American Samoa is the only U.S. territory where residents aren’t granted U.S. birthright citizenship. That’s caused confusion for Oregon officials who mistakenly registered nearly 200 American Samoans; 10 of whom voted. Oregon officials determined no crime had been committed because the individuals had not intended to break the law. In contrast, Alaska prosecutors pursued a case against American Samoans who voted.
