Portland has a strong bar, live music, and strip club scene, but unlike 16 U.S. cities, it doesn’t have a “night mayor,” — or in more technical terms, night time economy director — to manage and boost nightlife. Portland's newest sports team is the Portland Bangers.

⚽ The Portland Pickles are expanding the franchise: In May, they're launching a pre-professional soccer team called the Portland Bangers, which will be “serving soccer with a side of humor,” the Oregonian’s Samantha Swindler writes.

🌭 A banger is a soccer term for goal scored from a distance — and British for sausage. So, no surprise, the team's mascot will be Saucy T. Sausage, who’ll no doubt start competing with Dillon T. Pickle for punniest (and least appropriate) jokes on social media.
