🚘 A surprising drop in a common Portland crime

Good morning! Alongside Washington and Minnesota, Oregon is suing over President Trump’s executive order to block treatment for trans and nonbinary patients under the age of 19. Trump’s order seeks to cut federal funding to institutions providing hormone therapy, puberty blockers, and surgical treatment to younger patients.

KBOO Show Hosted With AI Voice
Since 2020, an AI-generated voice has been used for the host of a monthly late-night show on the Portland community radio station KBOO. Angel Aura sounds female and a bit British. The station manager says he was unaware of the use of AI on the show. [Willamette Week]
Car Thefts Plummet
There were just 5,474 car thefts reported in Portland last year. That marks a 50% decline over a two-year period and the lowest number of thefts since 2016. [KOIN]
