🚲 And now Portland has 2 naked bike rides?
January 24, 2025 · — Rachel Monahan
Good morning, Portland! Two people faced arrest this week for breaking into buildings on the eastside to stay warm. Multnomah County didn’t open its cold weather shelters. When it’s dry, the shelters only open when it goes below 26 degrees 🥶
The cold, dry weather is expected to continue for nearly a week.

Where Is It?

In 2013, artists The Lost Cause and Jon Stommel were looking for a place to paint a mural. Music Millennium owner Terry Currier was happy to have them. (As a bonus for the owner, crowdsourcing covered most of the costs.)
This mural has a notable place in the history of the nonprofit behind a lot of Portland’s colorful artwork. This was Portland Street Art Alliance’s first mural project, which the group describes as “a colorful Beatles-inspired array of happy characters and swirling patterns.”
Check out this video of the artists at work and their impressions of their endeavor.
“We just want to make people smile and laugh,” The Lost Cause said of the project.
A shoutout to the first 10 readers to respond correctly: Steve Mellmer, Scott, Wendy, Annie T, Danielle Fanelli, Amanda Young, Morgan Macwhorter, Francisco, KW, and Linda Christian.
This week’s scavenger hunt comes from reader Mary Paganelli:

In this case, I’ve blocked an identifying detail in the photo to increase your challenge. That’s also a hint. Please email me the location — and, if you want, anything you know about it.
📸 Want to submit a photo? Send me a snapshot of somewhere in the Portland metro area, and we’ll consider it for an upcoming Where Is It? segment!
