What's CITY Talking About?

👋 Eastern Oregon Eyes Exit to Idaho
Leaders of the Greater Idaho movement have asked President-elect Donald Trump to support their effort to move 13 eastern Oregon counties into Idaho to better align with political and cultural values. The border shift, which would require approval from both state legislatures and the U.S. Congress, has recently stalled despite local support. [Oregon Capital Chronicle]

🧑💻 City Employees Push Back on Back-to-Office Plan
Portland Mayor-elect Keith Wilson’s plan to require city employees to work in the office four days a week is facing backlash from staff and labor unions over concerns about equity, costs, and climate impacts. Changing the current hybrid work schedule would require negotiations between the city and 14 of its public labor unions. [OPB]
📐 A Very Expensive 10 Inches
A Lake Oswego family is suing the city for $158,500 after being forced to tear down and rebuild the roof of their house. The lawsuit claims the city approved initial building plans, then backtracked, saying the roof exceeded the maximum allowed height by 10.25 inches after it had already been constructed. [Oregonian 🔒]
What I consistently hear from dentists in Oregon is that you can really tell who grew up in Portland, or other communities without fluoride, because the people who grew up without fluoridated water just tend to have worse teeth.
🚰 A Tall Glass of Unfluoridated Water
Portland is currently the largest city in the county without fluoride in its drinking water, a status it’s maintained through voter rejection since 1965. As fluoride gains national attention, Washington Post reporter Fenit Nirappil helps us explore Oregon’s role in the national fluoride debate. [City Cast Portland 🎧]
