Joint Office Will Again Give Out Tents
Soon the Joint Office of Homeless Services will renew its practice of giving out tents to people experiencing homelessness. During his failed mayoral run, City Commissioner Rene Gonzalez had made the practice an issue. Citing a lack of supplies, the Joint Office paused on tent distribution. [KOIN]
Whooping Cough and Chickenpox Outbreaks
Clark County, Washington, has seen 30 times more whooping cough cases this year than last — with 168 cases in the first two months since school started this fall. And there are now 50 reported cases of chickenpox as well. [KOIN]
Five Calls to 911 From Psilocybin Treatment Centers
In the first 15 months since psilocybin became legal, treatment centers have called 911 five times. In a couple cases, patients elected to leave before their required monitoring period ended. In others, there appeared to be an adverse reaction. For context, an estimated 7,000 people have received a legal magic mushrooms. [Oregonian 🔒]
