What's CITY Talking About?

Worries About TriMet Rider Safety

A TriMet survey found that 54% of metro area residents feel safe on buses and 42% feel safe on MAX. That’s a precipitous drop from a decade ago, when 79% felt safe on trains while 76% felt safe on buses. The reason: 82% say they’re worried about other passengers. [Oregonian]

$800M More for Oregon Counties’ Road Maintenance

A new study found that counties across the state need an additional $834 million a year for road and bridge maintenance. That’s on top of the $1.8 billion that the state Department of Transportation has estimated it needs for annual maintenance and comes as the Legislature is expecting to take up the issue of transportation funding next year.
