Portland’s First Successful Drug Deflection
During the first days of Multnomah County’s drug recriminalization effort, officials say eight people accepted the county’s new deflection program, with one person successfully entering substance abuse treatment. Officials made the announcement on Wednesday, but the county’s central deflection center will not open until at least October. [KATU]
Are Campaign Donor Tradesies Quid Pro Quo?
An August email thread appears to show a number of Portland City Council candidates attempting to help each other reach the donor threshold to receive taxpayer money from the city’s Small Donor Elections program by contributing to one another’s campaigns. OMSI’s New District Gets $15 Million
Portland City Council approved $15 million in public money for a long-simmering commercial and residential district around OMSI on the Central Eastside. The $90 million project hopes to include three million square feet of mixed-use buildings and up to 1,200 housing units. Developers hope to begin construction in 2026. [OPB]
