🔥 Record heat wave coming this way
September 4, 2024 · — Rachel Monahan
Good morning, Portland! 🏳️🌈 Our city is home to a lot of lesbian couples. That’s not a surprise maybe, but now there’s an official stat to prove it. Multnomah County has the highest rate of lesbian couples of any large or medium-size county in the U.S.
That may be because of LGBTQ+-friendly policies over many years, though gay male couples tend to head to San Francisco, D.C., and New York.

What's CITY Talking About?
A WNBA Team for Real This Time?
Maybe Portland will get a WNBA team, after all. There are a couple of reports that the new Thorns owner has landed a professional women’s basketball team for 2026. Raj Bhathal, who is also the principal co-owner of the Sacramento Kings, does already have an existing relationship with the NBA. [KOIN]
Strike at Fred Meyer Over Without a Deal
Fred Meyer workers completed a six-day strike and went back to work yesterday, as planned. The strike has not yet resulted in a deal for a new contract. [Oregonian 🔒]
Heat Wave in September
Portland may hit 100 degrees tomorrow. There are only two September days on record here when it's been that hot. [KOIN]
