August 28, 2024 · — Rachel Monahan
Hello! If you’re traveling this weekend, expect a lot of company ⛽ Lower prices on gas and airfare mean traffic jams at peak hours and long waits at airport security ✈️ You may want to leave before rush hour — or get to PDX with extra time to spare.

In a sign he may struggle at the ballot box, City Commissioner Mingus Mapps is finding out last-minute — just today — if he qualifies for $100,000 in matching funds from the city’s Small Donor Elections program. Three other mayoral candidates have already qualified. [Willamette Week]
Yes on More Taxes for Parks
In all, 64% of Portland voters told pollsters last month that they are willing to pay higher property taxes to avoid cuts to parks programs, including swim lessons. That could indicate success for a possible 2025 ballot measure, with one major caveat: The pollsters didn’t point out that the current proposal calls for doubling the tax rate. [Oregonian 🔒]
