🔏 KOIN Workers Stuck in Labor Limbo

Unionized production staff at KOIN TV say they've been facing union-busting tactics from management at Nexstar Media Group since the conglomerate purchased the local station in 2016. Despite recent court rulings ordering Nexstar to negotiate in good faith, employees have operated without a labor contract since 2017. Staff and union leaders are considering strikes and legal actions against Nexstar. [Portland Mercury]

🛴 E-Scooters Are Here to Stay

The Portland Bureau of Transportation announced it is partnering with rideshare companies Lyft and Lime to make its e-scooter program permanent. Under the contract, both companies are required to deploy up to 3,500 scooters daily, provide seated options to increase accessibility, and offer discounts for low-income residents. All e-scooters will also be equipped with a locking mechanism, which riders will have to engage before ending their ride. [City of Portland]
