Dangerously Hot Weather Returns
August is off to a warm start. It’ll be close to 100 degrees in Portland, with even hotter temperatures in Southeastern Oregon. [Oregonian]
Leading the Nation in Job Losses
Portland had the highest percentage of job losses of the 50 largest metro areas in the country for the 12 month period ending in May. Nike, Oregon Health & Science University, and Target were among the large employers cutting jobs. Still, the unemployment rate remains relatively low in the Portland area. [Willamette Week]
