⛺ No more Portland public dollars for tents and tarps?
June 27, 2024 · — Rachel Monahan
Good morning, Portland! There’s a new way to celebrate Pride month 🏳️🌈 Everyone is invited to donate blood — after a change by the FDA last year 🩸

What's CITY Talking About?
No More Tent and Tarp Purchases
Multnomah County has agreed to put a pause on buying tents and tarps for people experiencing homelessness. The decision comes as Portland City Council is getting ready to vote on renewing its funding for the county-managed Joint Office of Homeless Services. The county has agreed to compile data on all tent and tarp purchases. [KGW]

- Related: Mapps’s campaign appears to be struggling. As of Tuesday, it had $17,000 in unpaid bills, significantly more than the $2,842 in cash available. Mapps has raised just $21,000 this year, a quarter the amount his fellow mayoral candidate commissioners have. [Willamette Week]
- Meanwhile: Commissioner Rene Gonzalez won endorsements from the city’s fire and police unions, while Commissioner Carmen Rubio won the endorsement of Gov. Tina Kotek. [Willamette Week]
