Good morning, Portland! It appears that Portland police were lobbying for more funding in 2021 by publicizing the fact they’d no longer enforce traffic rules, according to Bike Portland. It’s a shocking revelation.

Intel’s Multibillion-Dollar Oregon Investment
Intel officials confirm the company has plans for “a multibillion-dollar expansion and modernization” in Oregon. That’s after Gov. Tina Kotek gave the company $90 million from the subsidies that the Legislature passed for chip makers this year. [Oregonian]

City Let East Portland Trees Die
East Portland doesn’t have enough shade during the summer. The city pledged to work on that problem and planted 30 trees in the Mill Park neighborhood. The city contractor tended the grove for a year. Then, when it was the Portland Bureau of Transportation’s turn to take over watering the trees, the bureau failed to do so, and the trees died. Country’s Largest Rock Gym
Portland Rock Gym opened the second-ever rock-climbing gym in the U.S. back in 1988. Now its second location, planned for Beaverton’s Cedar Mill neighborhood, is expected to be the country’s largest, at 64,000 square feet. [Portland Tribune via KOIN]
