Bike to Great Restaurants on This Portland Commercial Strip
Southeast Clinton Street is often paired with Southeast Division Street — it’s just a short skip over. But the stretch from New Seasons (on Southeast 19th) to just above the Clinton Street Theater (at 26th) has its own character, and it’s distinct from most of the city’s other commercial strips, in that it lies along a neighborhood greenway with plenty of bike traffic.

And it’s worth a visit in its own right — for some of the city’s best restaurants and more:
Where To Eat and Drink
It's got a wide variety of options:
🍺 Clinton Street Pub
Open till 2:15 a.m., the neighborhood joint has pool and pinball as well as cheap drinks.
🍻 Dots
It’s an ‘Old Portland’ dive bar, with cheap beer on tap and diner food. And in a town that goes to bed early, it’s also open late — till 2 a.m.
🍨 Fifty Licks
The local chain serves up its tasty ice cream, with some nondairy and gluten-free options as well.
🦪 Jacqueline
The fish-focused fine dining spot serves some of the city’s best food. It’s also well known for its $1 oysters during happy hour. (Tip: Make a reservation or show up early to get in during happy hour.)
🥢 Magna Kusina
The restaurant has made a splash with high-end Filipino cuisine. (It was the Oregonian’s restaurant of the year in 2021, when it opened.)
🍣 Yama Sushi & Izakaya
It’s a good spot for fresh sushi. Plus, it’s got ramen and grilled options for anyone avoiding raw fish.
Bonus: There are also a couple of new restaurants that just opened last month: Fair Weather, which is a brunch spot from the same owners as Jacqueline, and 82 Acres, which is a fine-dining restaurant that collaborates closely with Abbey Road Farm in Carlton.

Your Guide to Oregon City
To Portland, Oregon City may be just a small suburb. (If you don’t even really know where it is, take 99 south past the Goodwill Bins and keep going.) But historically, the city was a big deal for early white settlers: it was the main terminal of the Oregon Trail — and the first official city West of the Rockies. And even before them, the area was important too, as a traditional gathering place and fishing ground for Native peoples. Amy Theberge, an Oregon City resident, offered her suggestions on what to do.
