What’s for dinner on Monday? It can be a quandary when Portland’s restaurant scene feels a bit dead. So many restaurants don’t open till later in the week.

Eater Portland editor Brooke Jackson-Glidden talked to the City Cast Portland podcast about how to solve that case of the Mondays. As host Claudia Meza explains, you can blame the pandemic, followed by inflation and staffing shortages for slow starts to the dining week.

Here’s Jackson-Glidden’s fantastic list of the best restaurants that are open on Monday. Listen to the episode for more of her ideas of what to eat when you go.

North/Northeast

🍕 Lovely’s Fifty Fifty (Local, seasonal pizza)

🥘 Eem (Thai/BBQ)

🥟 XLB (Chinese dumplings)

🍝 Gumba (Italian)

Southeast

🍔

Oma’s Hideaway (Malaysian, Chinese, Indonesian, burger)

🍣 Nimblefish (Sushi)

🍷 OK Omens

(Wine and small plates)

🍛 Maruti (Indian, vegetarian, vegan)

Southwest

🥢 Duck House (Chinese)

🥢 Tasty Corner (Chinese)

🥩 Bullard Tavern (Western, meat)

Northwest

🇫🇷 St. Jack (French)

🍗 Mama Bird (Chicken)

🦪 My addition: Jacqueline, which has $1 oysters at happy hour. (Thanks, Claudia, for that tip on oysters.) They’re closed Sundays, but open the rest of the week right now.)
