The news can be dark, so for some balance, here are some fun — and tasty — updates:

🍕 Weekly Pizza at Bauman’s on Oak

The monthly pizza pop-up at Bauman’s on Oak (in the Buckman neighborhood) is turning into a regular, weekly event. You can now get one of Portland’s best pies every Wednesday night. [Oregonian]

  • More Portland pizza: There’s another highly anticipated brick-and-mortar pizza shop opening in the Buckman neighborhood mid-May. Watch out for news of Yum’s of PDX.

🇬🇷 Tréla Gets a Rave Review

The new Greek restaurant Tréla opened late last year in North Tabor. And it recently came in for high praise: Willamette Week’s reviewer highly recommends a visit for the pita and dips such as a fishy cod-based option, as well as the paidakia (lamb chops) and the desserts — baklava and even “choclava.” [Willamette Week]

🍣 High-Quality All-You-Can-Eat Sushi

Hamono Sushi, a small downtown restaurant, started offering an all-you-can-eat option last August. For $95 you get a 14-course omakase menu. If you make it through that, you can keep on eating sushi (or anything on the menu for that matter). Tip: Reserve a spot in advance. The Portland Mercury advises that such a good thing can’t last, so go while you can. [Portland Mercury]

Kann Chef Gregory Gourdet Has Opened His New York Restaurant

Oregonian critic Michael Russell flew into New York to try star Portland chef Gregory Gourdet’s new restaurant: Maison Passerelle. Russell offered high praise: “The food and drinks are already being executed at the same level, if not higher, than they are at Kann” — which is, after all, among Portland’s best dining options. But fun fact: For the moment, the New York restaurant may be easier to get into; restaurant reservations are available for weekdays. [Oregonian]
