Portland's Summer Bike Rides for Tacos, Pasta, Backstreet Boys, and More

00:00:00

Summer is nigh, which means it’s time for Pedalpalooza — now known as Bike Summer. The annual Portland tradition hosts bicycle rides with various themes all summer long throughout the city, so there’s a ride for everyone. Beyond rides, folks can also get involved by volunteering for events, making donations that help keep Bike Summer going, and even planning a themed ride.

Here are the rides we’re looking forward to this summer.

🗓️ May 30 at 7 a.m. (Last Tuesday of Every Month)

📍 Steel, Flanders, Blumenauer, and Tillikum Bridges

This recurring ride — a tradition since 2002 — actually happens year-round. It's great for meeting new friends and geeking out on Portland’s beautiful bridges. Coffee and pastries are served at each location. And keep an eye out for occasional pop-ups.

🗓️ July 6 at Noon

📍 Martha’s Cafe (Loop Ride)

This is your chance to dress up like your favorite pasta and share your love of carbs with fellow cyclists. There will be a pasta necklace-making station, a prize for the best costume, plus regular and gluten-free pasta plates — bring your own sauce.

Last year there were over 800 rides listed, so there truly is a ride for everyone.Lillian Karabaic, Host of OPB's "Weekend Edition" and longtime Pedalpalooza ride organizer

🗓️ June 22 at 2 p.m.

📍 Tanner Springs Park to Sellwood Park

The fact that 2005 was an entire 20 years ago feels rude, but more reason to celebrate a simpler time in social media. Dress up like a scene kid or even Tom himself — bonus points if you wear your old skinny jeans.

🗓️ Aug. 25 at 12:30 p.m.

📍 Starts at Paper Epiphanies

As a person with dozens of fountain pens and an obscene collection of empty journals, this is my type of ride. It’s a casual excursion with stops at several local stationery stores, and riders are encouraged to bring items to trade.

These are just some of our favorites, so check the full Bike Summer calendar for more rides.
